Dice Roller

Roll any number of dice from d4 to d100.

Frequently asked questions

Which dice can I roll?
d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100 (percentile) — the standard tabletop set. Roll up to 20 dice at once.
Is the roll fair?
Yes — each side is equally likely, and every die is independent. The tool uses Math.random, which is suitable for games.
What does notation like 2d6 mean?
NdS means rolling N dice with S sides each. 2d6 is two six-sided dice, producing totals from 2 to 12. This tool shows the whole expression split into its individual rolls.
Can I use these rolls for gambling or security?
No. Results use Math.random, which is fine for games but not cryptographically secure. Do not use them for lottery draws, passwords or security tokens.
Why show the average and maximum?
The maximum is simply the number of dice times the sides, and the average approaches (sides + 1) / 2 per die. Comparing the actual total with those reference points helps you judge whether a roll was lucky and is useful when balancing game rules.
Can I roll different dice types at the same time?
One die type is used per roll, so roll a d20 and a d6 separately when a game calls for mixed dice. Each result group keeps its own total, average and maximum, which makes combined checks easy to read.

About this tool

This dice roller simulates the standard tabletop dice set — d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100 — with any number of dice from 1 to 20. It shows every individual roll plus the total, average and maximum, which is handy for RPG sessions, probability intuition and game prototyping.

How to use it

  1. Choose the die type (d4 through d100).
  2. Set how many dice to roll at once.
  3. Read the total in the main result and the individual rolls in the cards.
  4. Roll again to get a fresh independent result.
